High School Football is an awesome experience.  For those that play, it is a period of time that will provide many positive experiences, life lessons and wonderful memories.  In order to maximize the high school football experience, I believe that a coach and coaching staff should have a vision for the football program that includes a set of core values and a standard of excellence in how things are going to be accomplished.  This vision should also include how the program will influence the physical, mental and spiritual development of the participants in the program and ultimately how time as a Huskie football player can assist in developing boys into young men of high character, integrity and humility.  In short, this vision and the consistency that it is communicated and carried out will become the “culture” of the football program. 

I believe the culture that we create and work to develop in the weeks and months ahead will be the single most important contribution we can make to the Reno Huskies Football program this season and in the seasons that follow. Regardless of the number of wins and losses that occur this upcoming season, developing a culture that is clear, concise and contagious has to be a top priority. For this to happen, we not only must believe in it together, but we must also live it, share it and reinforce it daily. In short, our core values and the vision of our culture must be reinforced constantly to our student-athletes and they need to know we are also living the culture we preach each day. Fortunately, we are blessed with some long time Reno Huskies coaches that have done a great job of doing this for many years. My hope is that we can create a culture that encourages and helps with developing boys into young men that will become hardworking, productive and humble members of society.
